In a first for Ugears, the Lighthouse of Alexandria has electrical components that light the model from within, making it a beautiful, warm, functional nightlight.

Built of solid blocks of stone, and towering over 100 m high, the Lighthouse of Alexandria was one of the tallest man-made structures in the world. It survived more than a thousand years until a series of earthquakes, the last in 1303, caused it to tumble into the sea. Remnants of the great lighthouse, including granite blocks, columns and statues, were rediscovered on the floor of Alexandria's harbor in 1968 and can still be seen by divers today.

The DIY wooden model Lighthouse of Alexandria by Ugears is based in large part on the surviving historical record, making this a fascinating assembly-ready replica. As the Lighthouse of Alexandria was dedicated to Zeus, our model is topped by an engraved cutout of the king of the gods, clutching a thunderbolt. Parapets, towers, catwalk and a cupola add architectural interest throughout, with laser engraving that replicates the look of stone blocks and shingles. Because it's Ugears, this static model also has a moving component: gates in the base at both front and rear that open with turning knobs.
